Lola Hampton - Frank Pinder Center for Agroecology
The Lola Hampton - Frank Pinder Center for Agroecology (LHFPCA) aims to transform traditional agricultural education and their capacity to help resolve problems related to climate disruption and social inequality within Black communities, the state of Florida, and the global community, with a specific emphasis on the wider Caribbean bioregion (WCBR).
LHFPCA is housed in the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences and the College of Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities and co-led by professors Kwasi Densu, Ph.D., and Jennifer Taylor, Ph.D.
The Lola Hampton - Frank Pinder Center for Agroecology is named after local land stewards in Tallahassee, Florida. Hampton, the grandmother and teacher of the new Center’s co-director, Dr. Jennifer Taylor, was an active community farmer and educator. Frank Pinder was a local champion of sustainable agriculture throughout the South and in Liberia where he led a resistance against a “plantation economy” led by Firestone.
