Mission
We are here to provide an interdisciplinary space and think tank for training, developing and building a sustainable future for Black regenerative farmers and land stewards.
Our Vision
We envision an established network of nourished, food-secure, climate resilient Black communities throughout the United States with international reach.
Our Values
Grassroots
We will remain Grassroots. To create self-determining food economies “localization” is key. This means that communities must develop local and regional food systems centering the sustenance needs of local communities first. This requires community-based organizing rooted in local intellectual, social, historical, and material resources.
Agroecology
We operate with Agroecology at our core. Human production and consumption practices must exist within the limits of the earth’s carrying capacity and our approach must always care for people and Earth.
Food Sovereignty
We spotlight Food Sovereignty as the right of Black people to have nutrient dense and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods, and the right to define our own food and agriculture systems.
Cooperative Economics
We practice Cooperative Economics which allows agroecology systems to stand on cooperative models of economic organization. Land, water, air, and biological diversity exist for the benefit of all living systems.
